This rope manufactured by New England Ropes was originally designed for rescue operations. These ropes feature high tensile strength, low stretch, good abrasion resistance and reduced spinning tendencies when used as a single line rappel rope. These ropes are not normally recommended for belaying but are mainly used in rappelling operations and in the challenge course industry, the 7/16" size works well with most descending devices for double line rappel systems. This size is also appropriate as a belay line in those situations where minimal stretch is warranted. The larger diameter 1/2" static line creates additional friction between the rope and rappel device, making it a good choice for single-line rappels.
